Rhapsody in Red & Gold

For my outfit this Christmas Eve, I decided to wear something in the traditional colors of the season. Red and gold seemed more in keeping with the spirit of the holidays. 




The past year was not the best one for me personally and my family because we lost my dear grandma. It was also a tumultuous year for my country, the Philippines, hit relentlessly by disaster after disaster, both natural and man-made. The most recent and most devastating, Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda, took away thousands of lives and millions of dollars in property.





But the Filipinos are a resilient people, and I am pretty sure Christmas will be celebrated the way it should be - in the company of family, friends, and loved ones, sharing food and drink and exchanging presents. No matter how simple, Filipinos will find a way to celebrate and be merry and mark the birth of the child Jesus. 




So from me, my family, and this four-legged Santa next to me, whom I lovingly call Pumpkin,
love, peace, joy to everyone this season and always!
