My Weekend at the HYATT City of Dreams Manila

It's been a while since the Girl About Town crew had an opportunity to take a break from our super busy schedule. Not that we're complaining, of course! We love being busy, it's an affirmation that we're doing something right and that we're reaching out to people, especially our readers and followers, the way we should be. But when the opportunity for a staycation presented itself, we excitedly packed our bags for a weekend off. Well, sort of.

You see, when you're in a place like Hyatt City of Dreams Manila, it's nearly impossible not to take the camera out of the bag and take a shot or two, and then before you know it, you realize it's just too picturesque of a place, it would be a sin not to have a photoshoot. Or maybe two.

City of Dreams has been all the buzz recently here in the Philippines as one of the latest hotspots for leisure and relaxation and fabulous nights out. It has night clubs, casinos, and of course, amazing golden (and I mean, literally) hotels - of which one is the Hyatt.

Checking into the Hyatt, we were greeted by the friendly staff of the hotel. There was a bit of a booking mix up, however, but nothing that the hotel's super efficient customer relations manager, Jayson Sy, couldn't fix, pronto! Before we knew it, we were being ushered into our deluxe room, which had a lovely view of the Manila Bay.

The room was spacious and very contemporary in design with all the modern amenities one would expect of a five-star hotel - a spacious work area, a docking station for your gadgets, a huge, safe that could actually fit your laptop, a fully-stocked mini-bar, and a 42-inch TV with a fully interactive interface. I love that they made the effort to personalize greetings on the TV and on the house phone.

My favorite part of the living space is the floor to ceiling window, the better to enjoy the view and, of course, one of the first things we did was take a couple of shots by it. I got a room with two twin beds and I took one look and couldn't resist diving into one of them but quickly got off, lest I drift off to LalaLand! Too soft, too comfy, you wouldn't want to get up!

I love the bathroom with its twin vanities and stand-alone tub, and kept my fingers crossed I would have the time to get a relaxing bath during our stay.

We headed out to check out the facilities. The pool, nestled between the golden mirror walls of the hotel, is nothing short of fabulous, certainly one you'd expect from a hotel like the Hyatt. I made a mental note to come back early the next day (it opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m.) when hopefully, I could have it all to myself. It has a separate kiddie pool and a whirlpool if that's your fancy. Best of all it has a commanding view of the City of Dreams including the unique golden egg-shaped structure that houses the Metro's hottest nightspots, Pangaea + Chaos, developed by a group led by international nightclub king, Michael Van Cleef Ault.

As a fashion blogger, however, I most appreciate two things about the Hyatt - the Fitness Center, which has the latest Life Fitness equipment and is open 24/7, and the Salon by Franck Provost, which is one of the first things I look for because it's so convenient especially if you need a quick retouch or just get your nails done.

The City of Dreams itself is built around the concept of total world-class entertainment. Apart from two world-renowned nightclubs, it has the world's first family entertainment center from Dreamworks Animation and a live performance lounge.

The Cafe at the ground floor offers all day international buffet. We had the breakfast buffet, and enjoyed the range of entrees, and although my waffles didn't turn out as perfect as I would have wanted (too thin with a weird shape), it did taste good with fruit and chocolate syrup. For our other meals we decided to venture out of the hotel and check other dining establishments of which there was a lot.

We did get a chance to relax (which was what the staycation was all about in the first place) the next day. After venturing to the pool early (yes, not a soul in sight yet except for the attendant) and breakfast, we decided to stay in bed, watch movies, and just catch up on sleep, which we all lacked.

Overall, I loved our stay at the Hyatt City of Dreams Manila, and was sad only that it all ended too soon and it was time to check out!

I hope to get the chance to go back and try all the entertainment facilities so I can give a more detailed review.

But for now, I'm off to my next stop: The Marco Polo.

The Hyatt hotel is located at Asean Avenue corner Roxas Boulevard, Entertainment City, Parañaque, Philippines. For reservations, call +63 2 691 1234 or visit their WEBSITE, FACEBOOK, and INSTAGRAM for more details
