July is French Month at Sofitel Manila

One of the things few people outside of my family and close friends know about me is that I am the ultimate foodie! I love trying new dishes, and experimenting in the kitchen. And the truth is, if you ever need to be on my good side, then consider food your weapon of choice.  Methinks that's actually one of the reasons my boyfriend is an aspiring chef!
So, imagine the thrill we got when the Girl About Town team was invited to not one but two events in celebration of SOFITEL MANILA's July French Month!

In the first event, we were introduced to the French Master Chef Matthieu Garrel of the famed Le Beliserie in Paris! We saw the genius at work as he alongside Sofitel Manila's very own Chef Bettina Arguelles created their own signature Foie Gras dishes before our very eyes!

It was such a rare treat to be able to sample the culinary genius of these two renowned chefs. I was  particularly drawn to the Foie Gras with Vegetables and Clams by Chef Garrel and the Foie Gras on Pineapple Tarte Tatin by Chef Arguelles. Both dishes were très délicieux and the foie gras just melted in my mouth!

Afterwards, I had the opportunity to meet Chef Garrel over lunch at the Spiral and as it turned out he is quite the charmer!

The next day, we were once again invited this time to witness a one of a kind cooking showdown between both chefs at the Sunset Bar in Sofitel where both had to showcase once more French culinary skills. Chef Garrel had to work with local Philippine ingredients while Sofitel Manila's Chef Arguelles did her own magic with French ingredients.

It was such a unique experience watching both chefs at work on their dishes as you can clearly see the passion and heart they put into their craft! Meanwhile, the guests feasted on a delicious buffet of specialty dishes served at Le Bélisaire. It was definitely a taste of Paris! My personal favorite was the seafood ravioli!

Finally, the main stars of the night were presented! Just looking at them, my mouth started to water! Chef Garrel's stunning creations for the night were the Pan-fried Foie Gras with Vegetables and Clams, Lobster Raviole, and for dessert, Chocolate Moelleux. Chef Bettina's three-course sensation included her Foie Gras on Pineapple Tarte Tatin, Truffled Egg Raviole, and Bacon Creme Brulee.

It was a fun-filled night of awesome French cuisine and amazing company.
Merci beaucoup to Sofitel Manila for having us!

If you guys want to try these amazing dishes yourself, you can do so for the remainder of July French Month at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila!
