My Weekend at Marco Polo Ortigas

If you've been following me on INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK, and TWITTER, you would most likely have come across some pictures taken at MARCO POLO ORTIGAS where the Girl About Town team had the most pleasant and relaxing time last weekend.

It was the perfect time to be at the Marco Polo since it was celebrating its first year anniversary. They marked Year 1 last July 9, which also happened to be my third anniversary with my boyfriend/photographer, Nicco, and this blog's 2nd year! What better place to mark these special milestones than right here at this modern hotel, one of 14 upscale full-service hotels under the Marco Polo chain operating throughout Hongkong, China, and the Philippines, and one with a reputation for modern, first class accommodations and superb service?

Located right at the center of the modern business district, the Ortigas Center,  Marco Polo is a short distance from some of Metro Manila's major shopping, dining, and entertainment centers. It is just 14 kilometers away from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport so it's no surprise it is popular among business travelers.

But as we found out during our weekend there, the Marco Polo is more than just your typical business travelers hotel. It is popular among locals seeking a place to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate without going too far away from home. It offers the best creature comforts: a big indoor swimming pool, a spa and massage center, a fitness center, a huge ballroom, three restaurants, and a roof-deck bar and lounge.

Our superior room had all the modern amenities , a huge LCD flat screen TV, dual docking for our devices, a big bathroom with a marble bathtub and rain shower, a mini bar with a fully stocked refrigerator and espresso machine. But I was happiest about the super soft king-sized bed and the supee fast wifi connection throughout the whole hotel and even in our rooms! Blogger heaven!

After unloading our stuff, freshening up, and taking some photos, we, of course headed to the pool! Marco Polo's indoor swimming pool is on the 22nd floor and has the a great view of the bustling Ortigas skyline. But on this Saturday, afternoon, it seemed all the guests decided to have a pool party! We'd have to return later at night or early the next day if we wanted to take a dip and take pictures. So we signed up for a massage instead and then scheduled some sauna time. It made for a most relaxing evening. We all felt rejuvenated for a night cap at  the VUs roofdeck bar and lounge all the way up at the 45th floor. It offered such  a fabulous view of the city lights down below, we stayed for a couple of glasses of wine.

The next morning, we got up really early and headed to the pool, and were happy to find we had it all to ourselves! Just check out the amazing shots we were able to take! Needless to say, there is nothing better than early morning laps. Best exercise ever!

By the time another guest showed up, we had showered and were famished! So we headed to Cucina on the 24th floor. One of the things we always look forward to when staying in hotels is the breakfast buffet! And Cucuna offers quite a selection! Their breakfast buffet was every breakfast lover's dream come true! They served everything from Filipino and Western breakfast staples to Indian and Japanese entrees. We loved the bread selection. I had a delicious vegetable omelette, some bacon and sausages, and of course, my favorite waffles and fresh fruits! oh and Nicco brought us each a bowl of taho which I hadn't had for a long time! One word: P-E-R-F-E-C-T!

We ended our stay by taking a few more photos around and have coffee and some sandwiches at Cafe Pronto. They serve different kinds of delicious coffee, yummy sandwiches, and the most amazing looking pastries!

Overall, it was a weekend well-spent! I'lll definitely love spending more weekends here when I get the chance!

But for now, we're off to our next stop!
